Dennis Rodman is revisiting so-called “basketball diplomacy” in a visit to the hermit kingdom of North Korea. On Tuesday, the former Chicago Bulls NBA star was spotted at Beijing International Airport in transit to notoriously isolated Pyongyang, North Korea’s capital.
Rodman confirmed his arrival in North Korea in a bizarre Twitter post in which he thanked his sponsor Potcoin for making his trip possible.
Potcoin appears to be a Bitcoin cryptocurrency wannabe company targeting the “cannbis community.” Billiing itself as a “community run effort,” Potcoin provides a description of its services on its website:
PotCoin was designed to empower, secure and facilitate the legal cannabis community’s transactions by creating a unique crypto currency for this thriving industry. PotCoin removes the need for cash transactions and encourages buying through consumer incentives. PotCoin as a digital currency is an alternative payment network for cannabis users, merchants and industry professionals. The PotCoin network allows cannabis enthusiasts to interact, transact, communicate and grow together.
The cryptocurrency company is so excited about Rodman’s representation as a brand ambassador that it even posted a press release on its website detailing the basketball player’s controversial trip to North Korea. Read:
